Annual compensation equivalent is calculated at 40 hours per week across 48 workable weeks per year. It represents a full-time equivalent and is not a guaranteed salary. Actual compensation is output-based and depends on completed tasks.

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Senior Software Engineers to contribute expert-level software engineering knowledge to the development and evaluation of AI systems.

You will create reinforcement learning environments that test AI models on realistic software engineering problems, including debugging, feature implementation, codebase refactoring, and performance optimization.

Each task involves creating a reproducible environment and a reliable reference solution that can be used to evaluate how effectively an AI model solves a complex engineering problem.

No prior AI experience is required. The role is focused on applying strong software engineering judgment and practical development expertise.

What You’ll Do

• Create realistic reinforcement learning environments for software engineering tasks.

• Develop reproducible environments and golden reference solutions for engineering problems.

• Contribute expert-level code samples, debugging approaches, and development insights.

• Work with codebases written in Python 3, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript.

• Diagnose and resolve complex software defects.

• Identify and address performance bottlenecks.

• Implement robust features with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and sound engineering practices.

• Refactor legacy code to improve clarity, efficiency, reliability, and maintainability.

• Document technical reasoning, implementation decisions, debugging strategies, and solution approaches.

• Review and validate peer-contributed code and technical submissions for correctness and clarity.

• Help ensure software engineering tasks and reference solutions accurately reflect real-world development practices.

What We’re Looking For

• Significant hands-on expertise in at least one of:

  • Python 3

  • Java

  • Rust

  • Go

  • C++

  • TypeScript

• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and core software engineering principles.

• Proven ability to debug complex systems and resolve challenging software defects.

• Experience optimizing software performance and identifying bottlenecks.

• Experience refactoring large or complex codebases, including legacy systems.

• Track record of implementing and delivering meaningful software features.

• Ability to reason about software problems systematically and develop reproducible solutions.

• Strong technical documentation and communication skills.

• Ability to clearly explain engineering decisions and problem-solving approaches.

• Experience working on cross-functional software projects.

AI Experience

Previous AI or machine learning experience is not required.

What matters most is your ability to apply strong software engineering judgment to complex coding, debugging, refactoring, and performance optimization problems.
