About the Role

This remote contract opportunity is for data science and statistics professionals who can interpret complex statistical visualizations and develop rigorous analytical tasks based on them.

You will use your quantitative expertise to create challenging, objectively answerable questions that require graphical reasoning, calculations, comparisons, trend analysis, interpolation and statistical inference. You will also provide precise answers with transparent, step-by-step explanations of the calculations, statistical reasoning or modeling logic involved.

No prior AI experience is required. The primary requirement is strong expertise in data science, statistics or another relevant quantitative discipline.

What You'll Do

• Interpret complex statistical and data science visualizations, including Sankey diagrams, heatmaps, calibration curves, residual plots, correlation matrices and distribution plots

• Apply accurate statistical terminology and professional judgment when analyzing visualizations

• Design clear, objective, multi-step analytical questions based on complex charts and datasets

• Create tasks that require quantitative reasoning beyond basic chart or trend identification

• Develop questions involving graphical reasoning, comparisons, interpolation, trend analysis and statistical inference

• Provide precise answers with detailed, step-by-step written explanations

• Show explicit calculations, statistical inferences or modeling logic where required

• Accurately reference units, scales, axes, legends, confidence intervals and annotations

• Review tasks to eliminate ambiguity, subjectivity and unsupported conclusions

• Incorporate feedback from reviewers and project stakeholders

• Collaborate remotely through written and verbal communication

• Produce objectively verifiable tasks and solutions suitable for rigorous AI training and evaluation

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research or a related quantitative field

• At least 2 years of professional, academic or research experience involving statistical models, data visualization or analytical reporting

• Strong ability to interpret complex charts and statistical visualizations

• Advanced understanding of axes, legends, units, scales, confidence intervals and statistical annotations

• Strong quantitative reasoning and analytical skills

• Ability to design unambiguous, objectively answerable analytical questions

• Ability to explain analytical processes and quantitative reasoning clearly in written and verbal English

• Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy

• Comfortable collaborating remotely with technical or research teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree or professional specialization in a quantitative field

• Experience with technical documentation or analytical publications

• Experience designing assessments, benchmark questions or structured analytical tasks

• Background in data annotation or evaluation task development

• Experience creating technical reports involving statistics or data science

• Previous experience contributing to AI, machine-learning or data-driven evaluation projects

• Bilingual proficiency in English and a second language relevant to your professional domain

Visualization & Statistical Expertise

Relevant experience may include working with:

Compensation & Engagement

• Hourly rate: $25–$50/hour

• Annual compensation equivalent: $52,000–$104,000 based on 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

• Actual earnings depend on hours worked and available project assignments
